This talk continues our investigation of the meaning of the various sections of the Bodhisattva Ceremony. In this lecture, Shinshu investigates the meaning of “Beings are numberless, I vow to save them.” What is the meaning of “beings,” “numberless,” and “save?” Just who is doing the saving and who is saved? She explains the meaning of the Japanese characters that are being translated in this verse.

This third talk (part 1 of 2) continues the exploration of the meaning of the Full Moon Ceremony’s recitation of the Four Bodhisattva Vows. In this lecture Shinshu talks about the meaning of vow and the I that makes such a vow.

Daijaku Talks about Sojun Roshi’s Passage
Sojun Weitsman Roshi passed away on January 7th at 5:30 p.m. Daijaku talks about Sojun’s teachings in this talk given the Saturday after his death at Ocean Gate. Both Jaku and Shinshu are Sojun Roshi disciples, having received Dharma Transmission from Sojun Roshi in 2005. The lecture can be seen on YouTube at https://youtu.be/3WIhpzsW2uw
